Jarfly Issue 6 Now Live
The Winter 2023 issue of Jarfly has been released and is now available to read, just in time for the holidays.
The issue includes the work of 11 poets, including Heather Cadenhead, Jayant Kashyap, Robert Penick, Chris McCann, Elizabeth Crowell, Danita Dodson, Steve Brisendine, Rachel Belth, Kath Richards, Casey Killingsworth, and Candace Hartsuyker. The issue also includes a review of Demetrius A. Buckley's book, Here is Home. The review is written by Remi Recchia. We hope you enjoy the the issue and the work of these writers! Jarfly Nominates Six Poems for the 2024 Best of Net Award
2023 marks the first year that Jarfly has nominated poems for prizes, and the magazine has begun this process by entering six poems from Issues 4 and 5 to the 2024 Best of Net Award.
3 poems from Issue 4 were nominated, including "Meditation" by Peggy Hammond, "At the Chuck E. Cheese's" by Lori D'Angelo, and "What the Sea Brings Forth" by Abdusalam Adeiza Sadiq. 3 More poems were nominated from Issue 5, including "Taxes" by Renee Emerson, "Swamp Thing Parses the Difference Between Further and Farther," and "My mother comforts me after a breakup" by Grayson Mack. The Jarfly editorial staff is exceedingly proud of the magazine's contributors and is honored to recommend their poems for broader recognition. Jarfly will continue nominating poems for the Best of Net and other literary awards as the magazine continues its work. |

Ian C. WilliamsFounder, Editor-in-ChiefIan C. Williams is a poet and teacher from Appalachia.
In 2019, Williams received a Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Oklahoma State University, and his debut full-length collection of poems, Every Wreckage, is forthcoming from Fernwood Press in 2023. He currently lives with his wife and two sons, along with their two dogs and two cats, in Fairmont, West Virginia. His work can be found on his website HERE. |
